Tragedy + Time = Comedy
Touch Wood Productions began in 2001 after graduating with distinction from a BFA and MFA in Theatre.
For many years I taught acting, drama, theatre design & production. I would re-establish my roots in Calgary working in theatre over the summer. Touch Wood Productions moved it’s base of operations to Medicine Hat, AB in 2019 as I began learning the ropes of stand up comedy. I stepped on stage at Mad Hatter’s Comedy Club on Nov. 15th, 2019.
Writing and performing has been my main occupation since. The comedy cabaret Broadly Speaking was developed over 2023 with fellow comedian Deb Balmer. Premiering in Medicine Hat in the Fall of 2024, it has toured Alberta for two years. Fall of 2026 it comes full circle for it’s final performance at the Monarch Theatre.
The Mad SenHATors is an improv troupe that focuses on facilitating skill development in story structure and production development with intergenerational productions developed through my facilitation with the troupe. We present our work in public or by invitation environments using stand-up, sketch comedy and parody work developed through our classes.
For many, improvisation through theatre exercises may fall beyond their level of comfort. Coming Soon to Touch Wood Productions, you can book into role playing game sessions where the skills of storytelling, character development and improvisation are developed in a table top roleplaying environment!
